Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a successful psychological approach that draws from on-going scientific research into common psychological problems. It is the NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) recommended approach for a broad variety of psychological problems and common types of distress, including Depression, Generalised Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Health Anxiety, Social Phobia, Phobias in general, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It has also been shown to be of great help to those who may be experiencing stress, low motivation, anxiety or low self-esteem.
Treatment tends to be relatively short term, as the aim is to get clients independent as soon as is viable, normally in less than 20 sessions. The treatment is highly collaborative and aims to teach people how they can create changes in their emotional state via changes in behaviour and challenging long held beliefs.
Our therapists are qualified to deliver CBT and receive regular training and development through the British Assocation of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP).
