Pilates Classes

We have a strong team of very experienced Pilates instructors all who have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience between them.  All the team are Body Control Pilates registered which is a well respected governing body for their profession. This means they must maintain a high standard of up to date knowledge and continuing professional development in order to remain registered.  Therefore when you attend one of our Pilates classes you can be confident that you will receive the very best of care.

You do not need to be a patient of Newport Pagnell Medical Centre to attend and do not need a GP referral.  Courses are run and booked in term time blocks.   A place on each course is secured by payment for the block upfront. Please see prices, terms / conditions and the booking form at the bottom of this page.

The next Pilates classes starts week commencing 3rd June 2019

All enquiries about Pilates classes and payments should be with the medical secretary team on 01908 619912. Please do not use any other number.

What is Body Control Pilates?

Body Control Pilates is a body-conditioning method that targets the deep postural muscles and therefore builds strength from the inside out. This is the ‘core stability’ that is the essence of the Pilates method. It also works to help the body to attain the correct alignment of the spine.  It is non-competitive and clients are encouraged to develop at their own pace. The exercises are flexible and can be done by people of all ages and fitness levels. It is low impact making it ideal for injury-prevention and rehabilitation.  It is in general non-aerobic although some of the more advanced exercises are very energetic.

The Body Control Pilates Association is renowned as a world-leading education provider for Pilates teaching. It offers a comprehensive programme of exercises which are adapted from the ‘classical’ exercises developed by Joseph Pilates, many of which are quite difficult. Body Control Pilates has broken down these original exercises so that they can be taught step-by-step using just mats and resistance equipment such as stretchy bands and toning circles. Many new exercises have been created based on his principles.  Body Control Pilates is remarkably effective and medically approved. Central to the Method is 'awareness of your own body' and each and every exercise is built around its eight basic principles:

Flowing Movements

Body Control Pilates can work for everyone, regardless of fitness level! Exercises can be mat or machine-based, but matwork exercises have a great attraction in that they need no special equipment, and are particularly safe for those with back problems (and don't forget that 95% of the UK population has, or has had, backache).

Meet The Pilates Team

Jane Dann

Jane originally qualified as a dietitian and later moved into IT. Following a back injury in 2004 she was recommended Pilates by her physiotherapist.

Shortly after she decided to change career completely and become a Pilates teacher, qualifying with Body Control Pilates in 2006. Jane’s experience of chronic pain, and back and neck surgery means she understands completely what it is like for those who have similar problems.

Jane is a very experienced Pilates teacher and brings a wealth of knowledge to her teaching.

Angie Row

Angie originally trained as a dancer at Bodywork Company Dance studios in 2000 where Pilates was a regular part of her training.  Angie then worked at the BBC for 6 years in a relatively desk bound job which lead to lots of postural pain.  After having a baby, Pilates was extremely beneficial and Angie trained as a Body Control Pilates teacher qualifying in 2008.

Angie is currently studying for her Body Control level 4 qualification and has taken specialist courses in Pilates and pregnancy.

Eithne Mckinnell

My background is in the world of Accounting & Finance. I was thrown into the world of Anatomy & Physiotherapy after my husband had a Stroke in April 2011. Pilates has been extremely beneficial  to my husbands rehabilitation. I have been very fortunate to learn about the body from Physiotherapists and specialised remedial massage therapists. After 4 years seeing the benefits of Pilates & Physio with my husbands rehabilitation I decided to qualify as a Body Control Pilates Level 3 Matwork Instructor so that I could use this knowledge to help both able & disabled people.

I plan to continue this learning experience and work towards further qualifications and use of the Pilates Reformer Equipment.
